If you’ve ever set foot into our studio, it’s inevitable that you have seen film in some form or another. Perhaps you’ve almost stumbled into our 35mm Christie projector, or stepped on a curled up reel, or been confused over the lone piece of leftover film chilling on an empty table. That’s exactly how we like it.

What excites us most about film, is the tangibility of the medium. All it takes is a little bit of light thrown in just the right angle for these images to come alive again. Film breaks them down into frames we can cut, movement we can see and characters we can touch because they have been imprinted chemically onto it, forever. Its physicality is its truth. Everything you see here on Filmware, consists of these frames, this movement and these characters that have been lost for decades and found again – and are now ready to find their place elsewhere in the hope of being discovered decades later once more. You will carry with you a tangible piece of old tales, and add yours to make them your own. Attaching new meaning to something that has made it through years travelling from one place to another, from one pair of hands to another, and has now ended up with you. It’s up to you to decide where it goes next.

Analog film has paid its dues and will continue to do so, but now it’s probably our turn make some space for an old friend on our living room couch. Film is not dead- film can never be dead- but its up to us that we don’t miss out on watching and listening to the things it has to say.
